Perspective...
It wasn’t long ago that Scenic Drive was outside of town, and Colbert Hills was just an idea. Now, with the growth of the past few years, those areas are bustling with activity, and the lights of town have moved a bit further west. And yet, there still exists one of the most beautiful scenes around as you descend from the Grand Mère traffic circle toward Anderson. The city ends, the hills open up, and if you turn right on Anderson toward Keats, you can almost pretend you are back in time. As you wind past ancient limestone barns and through the lowland crop fields of Wildcat Creek Valley, all nestled at the foot of the Flint Hill ridges above them, you can almost feel the pressures of life fading away – if at least for a moment.
Growth is good and change is inevitable, but I like to think that it is perspective that gives us the wisdom for understanding both. Perspective comes to us when we are out of the minutia, lifted from ground level, and able to see more clearly the whole of our surroundings. Next time you are winding down some quaint rural road through the Flint Hills, take time to think of yourself as having been lifted from the clutter of day to day business - able to see a little more clearly, and to breath a little more deeply.
And next time you are descending the hill from Grand Mère traffic circle looking across Wildcat Valley, remember Prairiewood is tucked away in those hills - just a mile from Manhattan - ready to host whatever special meeting or event you can dream up. We offer first-class amenities, an absolutely unique setting, and loads of perspective!
